Accidentally stylish

Perhaps Pantone was right about this honeysuckle thing...

Or maybe I just happen to have a lot of honeysuckle hues in my wardrobe already, so I'm glad it's saving me some money.

Either way, this outfit was a bit of an accident.

I thrifted this dress well over a year ago, and this is the first time I actually wore it out in public.  It was kind of that whole I liked it in the dressing room but not-so-much in the closet syndrome.  I'd look at and think, "Nah...I can do better."

And then Sunday came, and I needed something quick and easy to throw on to have some family over for dinner.  I actually wanted to wear a different dress, but I thought that particular dress looked better with a cardi.  Now it's been hot enough outside, as I've mentioned, plus I knew I was going to be laboring over a hot stove, so that dress got nixed.  I decided to throw this dress on mainly because I didn't want to spend anymore time in the closet fussing over my outfit when I should have been fussing over food in the kitchen.  So, I threw it on, snapped some quick photos via self-timer and my dresser/bed, and called it a day.

Come to find out, the dress isn't half bad.  I wouldn't necessarily call it my go-to dress, but it's a great (on trend) color, and it fits well.  What's not to like?

I didn't want a lot of fussy stuff (I like that word today, eh?) since I knew I'd be working in the kitchen, so I kept accessorizing minimal.  Maybe I'll see how I can liven it up a bit before I return it to thrift heaven.  What d'ya say?

What I like about this dress is the cool neckline detail. I think you should try it a few more times before giving in; I think it looks lovely!

@Bethy
Thanks so much! I think I will!

Don't send it to thrift heaven! The color's absolutely gorgeous on your skin tone. I'd think you could pop several cardis over it or wear it as a dress-under-a-skirt? Give it at least a couple more tries.

@Carolyn
I like the idea of wearing it as a dress under a skirt. I do love the neckline. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, I think you could put it under a nice a-line skirt. The whole dress-under-skirt thing is my go-to secret, because it essentially doubles your options for the dress. I did a dress under a skirt here, because trying to do a 30x30 without doing so would be crazy.

Also, I (obviously) adore your blog!

@Carolyn
I'll definitely have to try that soon! And thanks for the compliments on my blog! :)
