Let me preface the rest of this post with this:
Honesty is the best policy.
Now that we've got that covered, let's move on.
I did not like this week's Inspiration Monday picture. At all. It's nothing I would ever even considering wearing. It has nothing to do with the lovely ladies over at Two Birds who put Inspiration Monday together...these are all just personal preferences, but I just felt it was too heavy, too dark, too...not me.
Nevertheless, I was determined to figure out something that worked. I think you can find inspiration from just about anything, so I knew I could find something that worked for me.
That being said, here's this week's inspiration picture:
After standing in my closet for what felt like hours and still not coming up with anything, I decided to make a mental list of the specific details I did like about this outfit. It looked something like this:
plaid
feminine detail on top
belt
So I went from there. I realized that I have a plaid top with a feminine detail that could easily be paired with a belt, so voila!
It might not be the best reinterpretation of the entire outfit, but I was able get ideas from the look and coordinate something that worked for me and my aesthetic, which, in my opinion, is more important and valuable than stealing some else's look.
top - Gap, thrifted
jeans - New York and Company, via Ross
belt - handmade by vendor at a Renaissance Festival (got it in high school!)
shoes - vintage, thrifted
flower hair pin - Forever 21
earrings - Kohl's

I like your honesty. That yellow plaid blouse with ruffles is so cute. I love it over wide legged jeans.
@Fashion Confessions of a Mommy Thanks so much! To each her own, right? :)
It's more interesting when people zero in on the things they like and make it work in a new way. I am not interested in seeing dozens of very, very similar looks, you know? Power to you. I think it works. (:

@SarahThanks so much, Sarah!
you have embodied the whole point of inspiration monday, i think...you are "inspired" to creat an outfit...not copy it, per say. i love your take...and appreciate your honesty!
