Tardy

I was never one of those students who was tardy for class all the time in high school.  Shoot, I was never even absent.  Swear!

But, somehow, now I seem to feel like I'm constantly running late.  Whether it's for class, church, an appointment - you name it.  And I despise the feeling of being in a hurry.  I feel like my blood pressure goes through the roof whenever I'm in a rush.

And, yet, I still constantly find myself in this predicament: running behind on time.  I always think I've allotted enough time to do this or that or whatever, but I suppose I still don't have that part of my life figured out quite yet.  Can anyone relate?

Needless to say...this post is tardy.  But I SWEAR I have a good excuse this time.

The ladies over at Two Birds have started a little thing called Inspiration Monday, where they provide an outfit for bloggers to draw inspiration from and create their own interpretation of the look.  Then, you link up to their post on Monday.

BUT...I didn't find out about this neat little project until Tuesday, so my tardiness is valid.  Also, considering I spent the last two days in pajamas [read: a t-shirt and underwear] because I was feeling a tad under the weather (to say the least), today was my first opportunity to participate.

Now that I've given you an acceptable excuse, allow me to show you this week's inspiration, an outfit worn by none other than Alexa Chung:

And, once again, my interpretation:

I admit...at first I was a little befuddled.  I thought, "I don't have anything like that in my closet!"

And then, after desperately searching for a shirt with a man's face on it in my closet that was quite simply just not there, I realized I was probably taking the inspiration a little too literal.  So I broke it down, and this is what I figured out:

- printed skirt
- graphic tee
- layer over tee
-dark tights

Now THAT I can do.  I even managed to keep it in the same color family.  I had a black cardi, but it was much too hot here in Texas to layer that on, so I stuck to a black vest instead.  I liked how the outfit looked with the tights, so I opted for them, but in a more sheer fabric instead of an opaque one that way they could breathe better and I wouldn't overheat.  I couldn't bring myself to mix the brown purse in, though.  I guess I haven't crossed over yet.

I'd have to say that my first experience participating in this was a good one.  It made me think about pairing things together in a way I wouldn't usually gravitate toward, and I like how the look turned out.  I'm a little apprehensive about next week's inspiration, though...

Be sure to check in and see how I figure this one out!

I can totally relate on feeling stressed because I'm running late. My husband has never been punctual, whereas I would pride myself on mine. Unfortunately, he has rubbed off on me more than I would like, but I still panic when I'm late.

I guess I need to work a little harder at rubbing off on him :)

Also, great outfit! I like your interpretation of it.

@TeresaThanks, Teresa! My mom was insistent on having us not only punctual, but early to everything we attended when I was growing up, so I have no idea what happened! lol

I love your interpreation as well. The asymmetrical cropped tank is so pretty on the tartan (sp?) skirt. You have the coolest haircut too.
I loathe, hate being late. I too feel so stressed even if it is not something important. That is why I try to allocate more and more time but sometimes I tell myself before I am even late that it is OK to be late for this once if I know it will be unrealistic to make it on time. It is usually the blog photos that make me late in the morning but if I don't take them then it becomes a bigger hassle afterwards. Oh the dilemma.
Thanks for visiting me by the way.
If I forget please remind me to check you out again on Monday.

@DaphneThanks for stopping by, Daphne! I appreciate all your feedback!

And thanks for the hair compliment! I chopped off 11 inches a while back, and I've been in the process of letting it grow out some. I went through a month or two of awkwardness, but I'm finally happy with it!

I really like your interpretation! Feels similar to the inspiration but I can see your style in it for sure. Thanks for the nice comments on my outfit too!

I totally know what you are saying! I never missed a day of high school but I am finding it increasingly difficult to stay on time as I get older! I really like how you paired the graphic tee with the plaid skirt. Such a cool combination! Great inspiration for the spring! xoxo

@JennybooThanks! I wish I could take credit for the idea, but I do like how it turned out!

Hi Jessica Marie
Thanks for the comment. I love your summer interpretation and the checked skirt is really cute. I also love the patent shoes - very jealous. My skirt would almost do for next weeks.
Love
Lori xo
