Missing something

Have you ever put together an outfit, realizing that something's missing before you even walk out the door, yet succumb to mediocrity and depart your home because you just don't have the time to fix it?  Loaded question?  Yes.  But that's pretty much what happened with this outfit.

It needs a belt.  In fact, it's crying out for a belt.  And I knew this.  Yet, nothing I paired with it seemed to work, and eventually you just have to carry on with your day.  Although, there's something to be learned from every fashion error, and, in this case, I know I need to add something to my shopping list: a simple, thin black belt.  That's all this outfit really needs.  In fact, it's the finishing touch so many simple outfits need.  So why don't I have this yet?  I'll get to work...

However, belt or no belt, I loved wearing this dress.  It was perfect for a hot summer day, and it survived the day's activities from morning til night.  Case in point: morning - church, afternoon - lounging around the house, and evening - a friends get together.  So what I'm really saying is that it's nice enough to wear to church, comfortable enough to double as pajamas, and casual enough to not freak out when a lump of hummus falls off a cracker and onto my lap while chatting with friends.  What's not to love?

Those peep toe flats make the outfit so whimsical! I love how clothing talks, as silly as it sounds! And I find so many great belts (and waist cinchers!) at Goodwill and thrift stores and they've already been worn out for a vintage look :)

@soychild. Thanks! I love anything with a peep toe! And I LOVE shopping for belts at Goodwill! That's where most of my collection is from, but, for some reason, I've yet to acquire a simple skinny black one. I have a skinny one with large gold hardware, but it wasn't the look I was going for here.

I think the dress looks equally as nice without the belt :) and I agree, it's perfect for a nice Summer day xoxo

@RCagz Thanks! That's very nice of you. I think the dress does stand on its own, but once I got the idea of wearing a belt with it, I couldn't quite part with it. lol

@Just Daisy Aww, thanks Daisy! And I was in love with that purse the minute I saw it! lol! And I got it for just a couple bucks at a thrift store - one of my favorite finds to date!

I know exactly what you mean when you KNOW your outfit is missing something but you're already late and can't fix it. So annoying. But you look lovely nevertheless!

@Catherine Thanks! I'm reassured knowing we've all been there at one point or another, lol!
