An outfit post!

Yes...I'm alive - and I'm still dressing up in pretty outfits!

I can't even express what a relief it is to have an outfit post up!  I haven't posted one since October 10 - that was a month ago!  Clearly, my love for rust continues because I'm wearing the exact same cardigan, and it's been appearing in my outfit rotation a LOT.  I got it on super sale at Old Navy over the summer for like $6-7, so my price-to-wear ratio is going to be so little!

Caleb and I still have so much to do around our little house.  We're building a farmhouse style table this weekend, and we're really excited.  When it's all done, it should seat 10-12 people, so it will be perfect for entertaining!  In addition to that DIY project, we're also still looking for some stuff for our bedroom.  The master bedroom is in a converted attic, so the ceilings are great, but the bedroom furniture we currently have is just to bulky for the room.  The headboard is super tall, so it wouldn't even fit on the along the wall where we plan to put the bed!  Luckily, the furniture fits great in our guest bedroom downstairs, so it's still being put to good use.  We're thinking about building our own headboard out of fence posts, and we plan to find some used drawers and stuff and revive them.  Should be fun!

And just for clarification, the pictures are not in front of my house.  We've been scoping out places in Fort Worth for outfit photos, and there are so many neat old buildings and houses that are perfect for bloggy pictures!  This old house is just a few minutes away from ours, and what a little gem it is!  You can see more photos and outfit credits after the jump...

A little bit of cheese

Ya dig the saddle?

Last night, my sisters, niece, mom, and I visited some friends of the family, Rachel and Ruby.  We hung out at their ranch and played the Michael Jackson game for Wii, which, surprisingly, I was pretty darn good at, and ate at a local Italian place, where I had a killer calzone.  Before I left, Rachel, snapped some photos of me - fun ranch props included.

I felt a little cheesy, but let's face it...I take pictures of myself and have a fashion blog - I'm a cheesy person.  But, hey, at least I'm in good company.  :)

As for the skirt I'm wearing, you saw it here, but I decided to remix it!  Which look do you prefer?

Patches

I went back on the road yesterday...well air, really.

I flew to San Antonio to 'return' Keira, and I'll be staying here until Saturday.  Caleb stayed at home for work for this one, but I'm sure he'll be catching up on some R&R after a week and a half with a toddler.

Lugging a stroller, carseat, luggage, and three year-old through an airport called for comfort and practicality.  I extended my hair wash a day with one of my favorite knitted berets and wore very little makeup.  Now you can see what my eyebrows look like when they're not filled in [gasp!].  :)

My outfit was far from spectacular, but I quite enjoy the blazer I wore.  Like many of my favorite items, it's a recent thrift purchase.  It was marked at $5, but it had the "color of the day" tag, so I received an additional 50% off.  That's right.  A whopping $2.50 for a cute and comfy blazer.  It's about a size larger than I would normally buy, but I actually kind of like it that way.  And I love the arm patches!!  Maybe that'll be the blazer's nickname...Patches.  I like it.

In other news, Texas finally decided to act like it's winter.  It snowed in DFW the day before I took off, and freezing temperatures are supposed to remain throughout the week.  It's not quite as cold here in San Antonio, but yesterday it was wet and chilly - definitely not the makings for splendiferous outfit pictures.  Today the sun is shining brightly, though, so I'm optimistic about the rest of the week.

Wishing you sunshine and happiness!

Errands, missions, and cows

Today was a busy day, blog world.

The hubby and I finally coordinated our schedules well enough that I could get my outfit photos taken outside, and I'm really happy with the outcome.  Sunlight does the body good!  I think they're much better than the indoor photos.  What do you think?

In other news, I ran around town this afternoon running errands.  I ordered some shoes during DSW's Cyber Monday sale, but a few pair didn't fit properly, so I had to go exchange them.  The store was great, and I had no hassle with the exchanges.  Although I'm always so overwhelmed when I walk into DSW...I'm like a kid in a candy store!  They had some great deals on the clearance rack, so be sure to check out your local DSW sometime!

Speaking of good deals, I also went to TJ Maxx.  It's always a good place to go when you're looking for great quality at a great price, and they had some stellar pieces today.

I also went on a mission at Hobby Lobby and Michael's.  (If you're not familiar with these two stores, they're large arts and crafts suppliers that also do home decor and such.)  This particular mission consisted of preparing for an upcoming venture of mine that I will announce soon.  Stay tuned, folks!  (dun, dun, dun...)

The outfit I wore today was extremely comfortable for running errands.  I love comfy skirts that don't require much fuss.  And I was also very happy to wear my brand new leather jacket, which was a steal!  It was on the clearance rack at Wilson's Leather AND I received an extra 70% off!  After tax, it was only about $55...for real leather!  I've seen faux leather going for about that price!

And while we're on the topic of leather, allow me to discuss my stance on the material: oddly enough, I don't eat cow.  But I'll be the first to say that it's for purely nutritional/health reasons, not ethical ones...although I do love animals and wish there was a more human way of making them our meat.  However, I know that regardless of what I do or do not believe, people are still going to eat beef, and I don't see this changing in my lifetime.  If an animal is going to be killed for food, I think it's important to take advantage of all parts of it so that there's no waste.  (The Native Americans had a good idea there, eh?)

So, I'll proudly sport my 100% genuine leather jacket that should last for years due to the resilient nature of the material.  Please don't dump red paint on me, PETA.

Thoughts?
