One last go around

Autumn is right around the corner, so I decided to break out some brights for one of the last days of summer. I hadn't worn this dress since my vacation in May, and I thought it deserved one more outing before scarves, tights, and rich fall hues take over.

Lavender lace and running late

For me, this outfit was the perfect combination of lace, pretty colors, and femininity. In other words, it was calling out my name long before I ever put it on, and I felt terrific wearing it.

Bloggers do it better: Maxi skirt...and a revelation

If you would have told me a year ago that I'd be wearing a maxi skirt, I would have politely told you that you were crazy. I used to think that maxi skirts were reserved for the 5'11 girls of the world who had no worries of their hip sizes. I'm 5'6 with an ample derriere and what people tend to refer to as child-bearing hips, so I would have left this trend to the tall and flawlessly-proportioned.

A charming blogger meetup

This past Saturday I attended a DFW blogger meetup put together by Julie of Rosy+Tart. We started off at Charming Charlie for some accessories shopping, and the store was kind enough to provide us with drinks, snacks, and, best of all, a 20% discount! (You know I love to save!)

Remixing my Easter dress

The weather today was beautiful! The same front that brought thunderstorms to north Texas yesterday brought cooler weather today, which provided the perfect opportunity for a final spring love affair with a blazer and tights. I don't know if the cooler weather will stick for a few days or not, but this is probably one of the last times you'll see me sporting these kinds of pieces for months.

Preparations and a premier

Don't let the sunny weather fool you - most of the day was filled with gray skies. The clouds parted and let the sun shine just in time for my photos. The umbrella wasn't in vain! We had a chance for showers today, and, being the prepared person that I am, I kept an umbrella in my purse...just in case. The last thing I wanted to do today was walk defenselessly across the campus parking lot in the pouring rain.

It's beginning to feel a lot like spring-time

It feels like spring!! It's so hard to believe that there was snow on the ground just a week ago. This only further demonstrates the bi-polar nature of Texas weather. You never know what to expect!

While I love bundling up with cute scarves, I've mention before that I am a certified wuss when it comes to cold weather. I don't know weather or not (haha) the warmth is here to stay, but I've been taking full advantage of 70 degree weather.

Night out

Last night, I attended a bachelor/bachelorette party. The guys and gals ate dinner at separate restaurants, and then we all met up at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. Afterward, some of us when to the bachelorette's apartment to hang out some more.

It's June!

And by June, I of course mean my wonderful pup. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but our adorable little dog was a wedding gift, and since Caleb and I married in June, we named our sweet girl after the memorable month. June is a wonderful companion, and she keeps me company while I study, work, and do, well, everything else I do around the house. In fact, she's sleeping on my lap as I type. She's so precious.

A magical dinner

Follow my blog with bloglovin

The last "fun thing" Caleb and I did with Keira was dinner at the Magic Time Machine. If you've never been there, the waiters and waitresses act like popular characters, i.e. Batman, Woody, Captain Jack Sparrow, Snow White, etc., so it's a lot of fun for kids. Our waitress was Luna Lovegood, but the table ten feet away from us was being served by Cinderella. Keira got so excited every time she saw her, and she was even more excited when Cinderella made a special visit to our table to meet Princess Keira. We had a great time!

I usually enjoy dressing nicer for dinner, but I didn't want to overdo it with a toddler, so I tried to keep it simple but chic. Did I succeed? I always love to hear your thoughts!

I rock...just ask my niece

I took Keira ice skating today at the Galleria Mall in Dallas. (Please excuse her hair...she kept fussing with her headband. She is a three year-old, after all.) They have a huge four-story Christmas tree in the middle of the rink, and today was the last day it would be up before they took it down. Naturally, we had to take advantage of its last hoo-ra.

After ice skating, we did some shopping...I mean, we were at a mall. We got Keira two belts and a purple shirt from The Children's Place. (By the way...isn't her sweater awesome?! Got that one at Kohl's.) We also stopped in at Lush and got some bath bombs. She used one of mine the other night and just thought they were the coolest things, so I wanted to get her more to use for her stay here.

If you've never been to Lush, you can check them out here. They offer handmade bath and cosmetic products that are absolutely wonderful. I recently discovered them, and I've really enjoyed my purchases.

Ice skating and shopping with a toddler definitely called for a casual outfit. My sweater is a silk/cashmere blend, so it felt fabulous against my skin during the long day. I also appreciated my beret giving me an extra day before a hair wash. :)

I don't usually post prices of objects (unless I'm able to link to a website), so if you ever have any questions concerning the costs of items or where you can find similar items, please let me know!

For the love of boots

In case you haven't noticed, I love these brown boots. I wear them quite a bit.
I especially love wearing them with dresses or skirts, evidenced not only today, but also here and here.
It's fun to dress up a rugged pair of boots. I suppose I like the unexpected juxtaposition (SAT word of the day for any high schoolers who are reading). :)

Do you have a pair of shoes that you get attached to? Or how about another article of clothing or an accessory? Purse? Jeans? Anything?

Sometimes I get attached to certain items, and I have to make sure I don't get into a rut. Is anyone else like this?

In other news...it was warm here in Texas today. The weather here is so bipolar that you have to check weather.com every day, and even then it'll change on you. I hope all the northerners are enjoying the winter. We don't have a true representation of this season in Texas.

Trekkies

Caleb and I made the trek back to Texas today. Again, we were provided with absolutely glorious weather. I always hate getting stuck in the rain when travelling, so I'm glad we were blessed with sunny skies and beautiful scenery.

I kept my outfit simple and comfortable...practical, ya know? Luckily the drive did seem to go by faster this time around, which is good since I was anxious to see June (my puppy) who was being watched by Caleb's grandparents since our rental did not permit pets. Hopefully you don't see any dog fur on my clothes...I held her so tight when I saw her precious face!!

Feeling festive

Last night's Christmas party went wonderfully! We had some delicious drinks, scrumptious desserts, and quirky gifts. What could be better?

After the party, my friends Sarah and Faye stayed for a ladies' night. It was the perfect end to the perfect evening.

I didn't think to pull out my camera during the party, but, as promised, I did captures some photos of my party outfit, which I absolutely loved! I felt so festive! Let me know what you think...

The picture above me is my bridal portrait.
Check out how long my hair used to be!
I chopped 11 inches off a few months ago.

I like how the hubby is peeking in this one.

I had to pull out a blazer for ladies' night so I wouldn't freeze!

June - her shirt said,
"Baby it's cold outside!"

Fun pose!
Sarah is the blonde, and Faye is the brunette.

A little bit of whimsy...
